Photo Contest Full Terms and Conditions
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win
Eligibility This contest is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older as of the date the contest begins. Employees and immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling or sibling's spouse) of employees of American Timber and Steel are not eligible to participate. This contest is void in Puerto Rico, outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, and where prohibited by law.
Entry Period The contest begins August 27th, 2012, 4pm EDT and ends November 12th, 2012, 4pm EST. All entries must be received within this time period in order to be considered for prizes. American Timber and Steel reserves the right to modify the deadline for submissions due to circumstances beyond its control. Winners will be notified by November 19th, 2012
Photo Eligibility All photos must be in color and taken within the last three years. Black and white images are not eligible. Entries must be submitted digitally and meet specific size and format requirements. Please read the specific guidelines for submitting listed below.
Photographer/Copyright By entering, you warrant that the photograph that you submit is original and is your own, and does not infringe on the rights of any third party. You further warrant that your participation in this photo contest does not violate any agreement between you and a third party. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than yourself.
Number of Entries
An individual may submit as many photos as they wish; however, you must complete a separate on-line submission form for each photograph you wish to enter.
Photo Subject Restrictions The photo subject must show the use of American Timber and Steel’s products in their final, fully constructed form. We are looking for striking images of our products in an interesting or beautiful setting. Photos must be appropriate for posting on public promotional pieces. Obscene, provocative or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. American Timber and Steel retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.
If your photograph(s) include a recognizable person or people, you must secure permission from each person (or in the case of a minor, the minor's parent or guardian) to use his/her image in the photo contest, and present it to American Timber and Steel, if requested. Click here for a model release form. American Timber and Steel reserves the right to disqualify an entry if it finds, in its sole discretion, that an entrant has not secured a necessary release.
Return of Photos Photos will not be returned. Please do not send your only copy of a photo.
Ownership/Use Rights By entering the photo contest, you grant the American Timber and Steel the non-exclusive right to publish, use, distribute, reproduce and publicly display your photograph, and to create derivative works from your photograph, in perpetuity, in any of its on-line, print or other media publications, materials or exhibitions, for purposes of promoting American Timber and Steel's mission and awareness of its products, including but not limited to for editorial, advertising, publicity, and fundraising purposes, without payment of compensation unless prohibited by law. You grant American Timber and Steel permission to provide your name, the job name and location, as well as the contractor name and installation date, when publishing, reproducing or otherwise using your photo and when identifying you as an entrant or prize winner in the photo contest. While American Timber and Steel will make every effort to credit photographers when using photos, there may be circumstances where it is not possible to do so. Subject to the rights granted to American Timber and Steel, you retain all other copyrights and rights to future use of the photographs you enter into the contest.
How to Enter
Please enter the contest by completing the on-line submission form and submitting your original photograph electronically at www.amtim.com/photocontest. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed contest entry form. Entrants must complete all data requested on the form. No other method of entry will be accepted. We will not accept photographs submitted through the mail. If you are submitting multiple entries, be sure to fill out a new entry form for each photo.
Size & Format Requirements Digital images should be submitted using the online entry form. The image may originate as a digital or non-digital format (such as high quality film slides, negatives or prints scanned into a digital format) so long as it is submitted electronically and meets the size and format requirements. You must submit the actual image file, not a link or other type of file. If an image file is not readable, the entry will be disqualified. Images should be formatted to 72 dpi and no smaller than 1000 by 1000 pixels. Images should be submitted in JPG (at high quality) or TIFF format. File sizes should be at least 1MB but shall not exceed 5MB. Images must be in natural color. Black and white, sepia tone, and duotone images are not eligible. No photo montages or composite images will be accepted. American Timber and Steel in its sole judgment shall determine whether a photograph meets these requirements for entry into the contest. Electronic files submitted to American Timber and Steel will not be returned and may be retained by American Timber and Steel after the completion of the contest.
Image Modifications Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified.
No borders or frames may be added to images.
No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images. All winning images will be displayed with the photographer's name.
Adding or replacing elements in an image is not permitted.
Artistic filters are not permitted.
Images may be cropped and rotated as necessary as long as the rectangular format is maintained and the size is within the specifications above.
Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained
Red-eye removal and spot editing
One-step enhancement (such as "AutoFix", "QuickFix", "Auto Levels", etc.)
Use of filters to sharpen, soften, blur, despeckle, or remove noise.
Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image, such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance, and tint.
Judging American Timber and Steel is looking for striking images of their products in interesting or beautiful settings. Entries will be judged on the basis of originality, overall impact and artistic merit. American Timber and Steel Management Staff will judge the entries and all contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified.
Winners Judges will select a first, second and third place winning photo. If fewer than ten eligible photographs are entered, American Timber and Steel may choose to name only a first place winner, extend the deadline or cancel the contest. In addition, one or more honorable mention winners may be selected in categories with especially large numbers of entries, at the discretion of the judging panel. Winners will be notified by November 19th, 2012. They will notified by phone and email using the information on the entry form. Winning photographs, along with the photographer's name, email address (optional) and information about the photo, will be displayed on the www.amtim.com website during the winter months. The first place winner will receive $500 cash prize. The second place winner will receive $250 cash prize. The third place winner will receive $100 cash prize. Cash prizes will be awarded in the form of certified checks made out to name on the winning entry form.
Additional Terms and Conditions
American Timber and Steel is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Furthermore, American Timber and Steel is not responsible for: (i) lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, or late entries or (ii) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing of entries. American Timber and Steel reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or any portion of this contest without notice if factors beyond American Timber and Steel control, including technical difficulties, disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration or operation of the contest. Void where prohibited. American Timber and Steel is entitled to interpret these rules as needed and its decisions are final. American Timber and Steel reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that American Timber and Steel has reason to believe is not the original work of entrant, or does not otherwise meet the contest rules. If a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same judging process/criteria described above. Alternate winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these Official Rules.
By participating in the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless American Timber and Steel and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this contest, including infringement of intellectual property rights. American Timber and Steel and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies assume no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this contest.
